These photos with L’Oreal posters were taken in central Kyiv against the backdrop of a completely destroyed historic residential building.
It was home to dozens of people before the tragic events of October 17, 2022. Their home was destroyed in a Russian drone attack in the morning. People who were sleeping at that time were trapped under the rubble. A few hours later, rescuers pulled the wounded and the bodies of a pregnant woman and her husband from the ruins.
The young couple found dead were approximately 30 years old, and the woman was six months pregnant. Their home cannot be restored, so it still stands in ruins, a reminder of Russian war crimes.
L’Oreal is complicit in this tragedy. The company has paid $81 million in taxes to the Russian budget since the beginning of the war. It attempts to conceal the scale of its activities in the Russian market, deceiving people with promises to suspend sales. L’Oreal even closed its stores and stopped its media investments but still did not fulfill its promises: the corporation did not stop selling its products.
It hypocritically increased its cooperation with marketplaces and boosted sales. Additionally, there has been no news from L’Oreal about its factory in Russia.
That’s why L’Oreal’s profits were almost unaffected: in 2022, they amounted to $879 million, and in 2023 – $749 million, of which $41 million and $40 million went to the Russian treasury, respectively.
L’Oreal will not succeed in hiding its dishonest and greedy face behind tons of makeup!
